Privacy Notice
How Crown Attorneys collects, uses and protects personal information submitted through this website.
Last updated: 15 June 2026
Crown Attorneys ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to this website. This notice explains what information we collect through crownattorneys.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is provided in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus a limited amount of technical information that helps the site work and improve.
- Enquiry form submissions. When you submit the contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), practice area of interest, subject, and the message you write. This information is sent to our team at info@crownattorneys.com so we can respond.
- Analytics data. If you accept cookies on the banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to record anonymised information such as pages viewed, approximate location (city/region), device type, browser, and how you arrived at the site. If you decline, we still receive aggregate, cookieless pingbacks but no individual identifiers.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider (Netlify) records standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, request URL) for security, abuse prevention and operational diagnostics. These logs are kept for a short period and not used for marketing.
- Spam protection. The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to verify you are not an automated bot. Google may collect device and behaviour data as part of this check, governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry, arrange a consultation, or follow up on the matter you have raised.
- To verify identity and conflict-check before acting on legal matters.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve content and user experience.
- To protect the site from spam, abuse and security threats.
- To meet our professional, regulatory and legal obligations as Australian solicitors.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
3. Cookies and your choices
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your site data in your browser settings, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.
The cookies and storage we use fall into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your cookie choice). Always on.
- Analytics. Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) — only set after you accept. - Security / spam protection. Google reCAPTCHA cookies — set when the contact form loads, to detect bots.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us operate this website and respond to enquiries:
- Netlify, Inc. — website hosting and form submissions (servers located in the United States).
- Google LLC — analytics (where consented) and reCAPTCHA spam protection.
These providers process information under their own privacy policies, and we use them only for the purposes described above. We do not transfer your information overseas for any other purpose without your consent or as required by law.
5. How long we keep your information
Enquiry form submissions are retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to you and meet our professional record-keeping obligations as solicitors. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for the default period (currently 14 months) and then deleted. Server logs are retained by Netlify for short operational windows.
6. How we protect your information
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are transmitted to Netlify over encrypted connections and stored in the Netlify form dashboard, which is access-controlled. We restrict internal access to your information to staff who need it to respond to your matter.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however. Please do not send confidential or sensitive legal information through the website contact form. For confidential matters, contact our office directly by phone or in person.
7. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request that we correct any inaccurate information;
- withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time;
- complain about how we have handled your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
8. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top will indicate when it was most recently revised. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the revised notice.
